Guest house layout

So inspired by this small guest house kitchen and dining area featured in Cottage Journal magazine. Will build similar this summer near our pond. Note the convenient dining or serving bar in the foreground, and the pantry and fridge wall in the background, located outside the kitchen's normal work triangle.

Kinderhook kitchen: new backplash and countertops

While the cabinets were too good to discard, this 1970s-era traditional kitchen sorely needed updating.  Centerline helped the homeowners identify solutions that wouldn't break the bank.  We used sleek black granite countertops to replace worn and flimsy laminate for a true upgrade, along with glass mosaic tile on the backsplash for a pop of contemporary color.  Matching black outlets and switches provide a smooth and elegant finish.  The project was both low-cost and low-fuss, requiring less than a week to complete, and the results speak for themselves -- the room has a cohesive look with new sparkle and freshness.

Tired and hard-used lake house got a total refresh with board-and-batten vinyl siding and the enclosure of its charming sun porch, which can now be used year-round.  Each glass panel (door) slides open to reveal concealed screening.

Relaxed country house bath floor update

Small spaces need special attention if they're going to shine, and our customer knows this well!  He imported the hand-molded tile (in classic blue and white!) that we installed in the small but exceptional kitchen of his country house in the Hudson Valley, two hours north of Manhattan.  His guest bathroom also got a boost from rich, warm Moroccan floor tile, perfectly scaled to the cozy room.  The project included ripping out rotted sub-floor and existing finish floor, adding new sub-flooring and backer board, then installation of the sometimes-finicky tile, plus grouting and sealing, and finally, new baseboard molding painted to match.
